Myotherapy at Myolab South Melbourne & Myolab Brunswick
Many people are interested in Myotherapy, what are the benefits, why they should try it, and what exactly it entails.
Through our hands-on manual approach, we have a strong focus on excellent use of hands on techniques including myofascial release and deep tissue treatment.
Myotherapists also have a strong focus on assessment and treatment, and we provide the most evidence-based therapeutic functional movement assessment and rehabilitation out there for any musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain. This involves the extensive evaluation of any affected muscles, joints and nerves.
We locate and resolve the source of your pain, not just looking at the symptoms, approaching treatment in an integrative way to ensure we are looking at the body as a whole, not just band aiding the problem.
We work on treating the area to give you relief, but then specifically work out why the pain is there, and develop an individually tailored plan to get to the bottom of it, and work toward your desired outcome.
Some other treatment techniques we might incorporate include:
- Soft & deep tissue techniques
- Myofascial release
- Myofascial Dry Needling (DN)
- Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
- Joint mobilization
- Electrotherapies- eg. TENS (transcutaneous Nerve Stimulation), m_STIM (Muscle stimulation)
- Cupping
- Thermal Therapies
With an exceptionally thorough foundation hands- on treatment, we are able to help if you are in pain, and get you out of pain, to keep your important body in working order, and restore functionality. It’s as simple as that!
The type of conditions we commonly see:
- Back pain (upper, mid and lower)
- Neck pain

Therapeutic functional rehabilitation
Here at Myolab we have a strong focus on restoring function and reducing any limitations due to pain or decreased movement within the body.
We believe it is so important to re-connect the brain and body to working together again via brain-body integration, using a range of therapeutic movement tools, which then develop into functional movement rehabilitation and strength training.
We start by determining any deficiencies in your movement and body, begin to re-calibrate new movement patterns to re-teach how your brain perceives movement and pain, work on particular muscles or groups of muscles that are requiring specific strengthening, and then finally integrating all of this into an integrative functional movement.
This allows your body to learn how to become functional again, and discover how to move in the best way it possibly can, reducing any chance of re-injury or repeated dysfunctional movement patterns… which of course all lead to pain.
It is important that your body is able to then move with fluidity and not be in pain while doing so.
This is the second element to our hands-on treatment, which will piece together your whole pain picture, and enable us to help you restore your body to its best version of itself!
We can’t wait to help you!
